Easy Tarte with Plums & Poppy Seed

Poppy seeds add some extra flavour to this easy and delicious plum cake - so easy, so good!

Ingredients


200g flour

100g grated poppy seeds

120g sugar

150g cold butter

1/2 kg plums

1 pinch of baking powder

1 egg

a dash of milk

some cinnamon

some icing sugar





Method


Mix flour and poppy seeds in a bowl. Add in 80g sugar, the egg, baking powder, a dash of milk and butter in pieces and work into a smooth dough with your hands. Form to a ball and wrap up in plastic wrap. Store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.


In the meantime wash the plums, remove stones and cut into quarters. Roll out dough on a flour dusted surface and transfer to a greased tarte tin. Heat the oven to 180°C. Spread the plums on top of the dough, forming circles. Press down the fruits gently. Mix remaining sugar with cinnamon and spread on top of the plums. Bake in preheated oven for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
