Roasted Dumplings with Bergkäse

Here’s a delicious Roasted Dumplings with Mountain Cheese (Bergkäse) recipe— crispy, cheesy, and perfect as a main or side dish!

Ingredients - serves 2-3
4–5 cooked dumplings (bread or potato dumplings)
150–200 g (5–7 oz) Bergkäse, coarsely grated
1 onion, finely diced
2 tbsp butter or oil
Salt & pepper to taste
Optional: 1 tsp paprika or fresh herbs (parsley, chives)
Method
Prepare the dumplings
Slice the dumplings into 1–1.5 cm (½ inch) thick pieces.
Roast
Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Fry the dumpling slices 3–5 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
Add the diced onion and sauté briefly until caramelized.
Add the cheese
Reduce heat to low and sprinkle the grated Bergkäse over the dumplings.
Cover the pan and let the cheese melt 1–2 minutes.
Serve
Season with salt, pepper, and optional paprika.
Sprinkle with fresh herbs (parsley or chives).
Great alongside a salad or a hearty meat dish.
